Louie tells us the reality for those folks in the Holy Land who carve today is painful and we have resisted sharing this until now, but the situation is growing dire. Since March 2020, pilgrimages to the Holy Land have been limited. All those whose livelihoods depend on wood carving have struggled. They have received no financial assistance from the government and the need for help to support their families is real.
